Simon Bailes Peugeot has launched one of the most unusual competitions ever seen as part of a major, nationwide campaign. The company, with branches in Teesside and North Yorkshire, is offering customers the chance to win a trip into space, courtesy of Peugeot, the first time a UK manufacturer has offered space travel as a prize.

Peugeot UK welcomes the new set of CO2 targets for light commercial vehicles agreed by the European Parliament, safe in the knowledge that its fleet of efficient HDi-powered vans already meets the initial target, set for 2014 and Peugeot’s smaller vans even come under the longer term target, set for 2020. The targets will be gradually enforced over the next decade, with manufacturers expected to have 70 per cent of their van fleet emitting 175 g/km CO2 or less by 2014. This increases to 75 per cent the following year, 80 per cent by 1016 and 100 percent from 2017.

A Saltburn school girl with a passion for art has moved counties so that she can take up a recently-won scholarship at one of the region’s leading schools. Olivia Forster and her family applied for and won the Simon Bailes Scholarship at Polam Hall School in Darlington and, now, the 11- year old and her family have moved to the town to allow Olivia to take up her scholarship.
