Six Things Peugeot Is Doing to Make a Difference
- Peugeot's affordable low CO2 cars currently include the class leading 107, emitting only 109g CO2 / km.
- Peugeot was among the leading manufacturers for low emissions vehicles in 2006, selling nearly a million vehicles across Europe with emissions of less than 140g CO2 / km.
- Peugeot's new HDi engines produce 20 per cent fewer CO2 emissions compared with their predecessors.
- Peugeot is currently developing a diesel hybrid which will be on sale around 2010, emitting an average of only 90g CO2 / km.
- Peugeot has pioneered the use of biofuels. All its HDi diesel engines are capable of using 30 per cent biodiesel, and its petrol engine range can use up to 10 per cent ethanol. Peugeot is bringing E85 flexfuel technology to Europe - flexible fuel designed to run on up to 85 per cent ethanol.
- Peugeot has planted two million trees in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso with the aim of capturing 1.2 million tonnes of CO2 produced by vehicles.

71.92 MPG Achieved by Marathon 308
A Peugeot 308 SE HDi 110 5 door returned an extraordinary 71.92mpg average over a challenging 330-Mile route in the AA/ALD Automotive MPG Marathon.
It represents a 17% improvement over Peugeot’s published combined consumption figure of an already impressive 62.7mpg, and enabled the car to win its class just behind other smaller and less powerful cars.
The 308 ran on Michelin’s new Energy Saving Tyres, standard on all HDi 90 and HDi 110 models with both 15in and 16inch wheels. The tyres reduce rolling resistance and offer a CO2 reduction of up to 4g/km, or around a tonne during a typical lifespan.
Experienced MPG Marathon entrants, John Dalton, David Adams were at the wheel, as the 308 beat its class rivals including and Audi A3 2.0 TDi, Kia Cee’d 1.6d and Seat Leon FR TDi.
