ELECTRIC CARS: ECONOMY, CHARGING AND BATTERY
WHAT IS THE ECONOMY OF A PEUGEOT ELECTRIC CAR?
The lithium iOn batteries used in PEUGEOT electric cars are included in the purchase of the vehicle. They have a range that can reach 211 miles WLTP and a capacity of 140 Wh (136 hp for the e208). The traction battery warranty covers 8 years or 100,000 miles and is fully transferable to new owners.
CHARGING YOUR PEUGEOT ELECTRIC VEHICLE

ACCELERATED CHARGE
Charge your e-208 quickly and safely from a dedicated charging point, which takes approximately 7.5 hours for a full charge. Government subsidies in the UK are available to support this chargepoint installations at home or workplaces – we can talk you though the options.
CHARGING FROM A DOMESTIC PLUG
The e-208 charges from empty to full using a domestic plug in approximately 24 hours. A cable can be purchased as an accessory if you wish to use this method.
CHARGING WITH PUBLIC CHARGING POINTS
At 100kW rapid charge points, you can obtain 80% of the vehicle charge in 30 minutes. Rapid charge points can now be found at most motorway service stations and are being progressively installed across the UK. Standard/accelerated charge points can also be found in many on-street and car park locations.
ECODRIVING: TIPS TO ADOPT
ADOPTING FLUID DRIVING
To avoid higher energy consumption, tailor your driving to avoid harsh acceleration, cornering and braking. On motorways, remember that high speeds have a significant impact on energy consumed, and therefore range. Lower your speed where possible, and be guided by the vehicle information.
USING BRAKE MODE
Instead of continuously using the brake pedal, use the braking system, which allows energy to be regenerated and therefore charges the battery, during decelerating.
USING "ECO" MODE
Electric cars are equipped with an "eco" mode that saves energy by reasonably reducing engine power. This mode is preferred in the city because we need less power than on the motorway.
USING THE PRE-CONDITIONING
Use the preconditioning function to warm up or cool down your vehicle while it is charging, ahead of a journey. This can then limit the energy used by the heating or cooling systems when driving, as your car is already at an ambient temperature.
MAINTAINING THE TYRES
It is essential to maintain your tyres regardless of your car’s engine type. Besides representing safety, electric cars are concerned with reducing energy consumption, which is liable to increase with unsuitable or poorly inflated tyres.
SAVE TIME AND MONEY WITH PEUGEOT ELECTRIC VEHICLES
When making the switch to electric, there a host of ways in which you can save and benefit from different grants, tax benefits and exemptions.

PLUG-IN CAR GRANT
The Office For Low Emission vehicle administer this grant, which currently offers 35% off an electric car, capped at a maximum of £3,000. The Dealer sorts out the grant claim and deducts if off invoice, so other than answering a few questions, there is nothing for the customer to do.

TAX BENEFITS
Electric vehicles are currently exempt from paying the basic rate of VED, which saves drivers £145 per year. If you’re a company car driver, you will benefit from reduced company car tax (BIK) – 0% for tax year 2020/21! Business can also benefit from enhanced capital write down allowance.

The fuel consumption you achieve, and CO2 produced, in real world conditions will depend upon a number of factors: including the accessories fitted (post registration), variations in weather, driving styles and vehicle load. There is a new test (WLTP*) used to measure fuel consumption and CO2 figures. The fuel consumption figures shown in this advert are calculated under the WLTP test.
The CO2 figures shown are NEDC equivalent (NEDCeq), calculated using EC correlation tool which converts WLTP figures to NEDC figures, however, these NEDCeq figures are based on the outgoing test cycle (NEDC**) and will be used to calculate tax for first registration. Figures shown are for comparability purposes; you should only compare fuel consumption and CO2 figures with other vehicles tested using the same technical standard.
